CMA CGM Announces Rate Increases and Peak Season Surcharges

CMA CGM, a major shipping line, has announced changes to their rates and surcharges that could impact your bottom line.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Asia to North Europe: Expect to pay more for your freight! CMA CGM raised their FAK rates for all container sizes (20′ and 40′) going from Asia to major European ports (including UK, Portugal, and all the way to Finland). New prices start from May 1st, 2024.

  • Peak Season Surcharges: CMA CGM is adding peak season surcharges to cover increased demand on certain routes. These surcharges apply to dry cargo (non-refrigerated) and vary depending on the origin and destination:

    • China to West Africa: Surcharges range from US$150 to US$450 per TEU (depending on origin and destination within West Africa)
    • North & Central or South China/Southeast Asia to West Africa: Surcharges range from US$150 to US$500 per TEU (depending on origin and destination within West Africa)
    • South Korea to West & Central Africa: US$100 surcharge per TEU
