Hapag-Lloyd Announces Rising Ocean Freight Costs for Asia

Hapag-Lloyd, a major German shipping line, has recently implemented a price increase for FAK (Freight All Kinds) shipments traveling by sea between the Far East and various destinations in North Europe, the Mediterranean, Latin America, and the Caribbean. These adjustments will impact shipments booked for voyages starting April 1, 2024, and onwards.

Hapag-Lloyd also Announces Latin America & Caribbean GRI:

The company is implementing a General Rate Increase (GRI) for container shipments traveling from Asia (excluding Japan) to various destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean. This GRI applies to all container types (20′, 40′, high cube, and non-operative reefers) departing after April 1st, with the exception of Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands (effective April 19th).

GRI Increase Amounts:

  • US $700 for 20′ Dry Container
  • US $900 for 40′ Dry Container, 40′ High Cube Container, and 40′ Non-operative Reefer Container
