CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd Announce PSS for Asia-Africa Routes

Marseille-based CMA CGM and German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd have implemented Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) for shipments from Asia to various destinations in Africa and Mauritius. These surcharges will be in effect from mid-May onwards.

Key Points:

  • CMA CGM PSS:
    • Applies to dry cargo shipments from China, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and East Coast India (listed ports) to Mauritius.
    • Effective from May 15th until further notice.
    • Amount: US$300 per TEU.
  • Hapag-Lloyd PSS:
    • Applies to all container types from Asia to various destinations in Africa.
    • Effective from May 16th until further notice.
    • Surcharge varies by destination (see list below).

Hapag-Lloyd Surcharge Details (per TEU):

  • North West Africa (Dakar, Nouakchott, Banjul, Conakry, Freetown, Monrovia): US$600
  • Mombasa, Kenya: US$250
  • Da Es Salam, Tanzania: US$450
  • West Africa (Apapa, Tincan, Tema, Cotonou, Abidjan, San Pedro): US$500
  • South West Africa (Angolan, Congolese, Gabonese, Cameroonian, Equatoguinean, Namibian ports): US$500
